Does Ballistix RAM still suck and die all the time?

whats wrong with ocz? i just bought corsair 4gb for 70 bux 1066 ddr2 (of course it was used but i never buy new unless cheaper than used would be.. ) i run tons of ocz ram as well i prob have 30gb of ddr2 atm and more than half of it is ocz with 0 issues hehe

checked out your link any my spare bedroom pc has 4gb of that stuff with 4gb of ocz working great for like past 6 months? Came with a q6600 for 160 so couldnt resist.

I have a 2x1GB pair of DDR2-800 Ballistix in my HTPC. Got them as part of a trade years ago and they're still going strong. The other pair is a 2x2GB set of HP branded Micron memory I think I paid all of $40 for back when they were practically giving DDR2 away.

It's hit or miss really...the good thing is Crucial knows this and doesn't hassle RMA's for them. I'm currently RMA'ing a set, and they sent me a UPS return label this time, I guess after 4 other RMA's in the last year they've decided to help me out a bit! I've had to RMA both 2.2v and 2.0v sets...

OP complains about RAM going bad but buys cheapest RAM on the shelf. lol

Cheapest on the shelf doesn't necessarily mean shitty RAM. I had no issues with my Ballistix DDR 400. It simply ran excellent for 2 years. These particular DDR2-800's have been a thorn in Crucial's side since they released them.

I've got 2 1GB sticks of DDR2 800 and 2 1GB sticks of DDR2 566 overclocked on my D975xbx2 mobo (famous for blowing slot 3 memory). 2.5 years, now...
