Syquest the company is gone, but their products aren't completely. Iomega bought them out and are rereleasing some of their removable drives.

They aren't completely gone, they are under reorganization. They would be gone if they were liquidating assets, but they aren't.
Aureal still has tech support staff. I got a response back from them last week. I hope they bounce back, I like their A3D much better than EAX and would hate to see Creative defining the future of sound on the computer all by itself. It sucks to have no real competition.

yeah they aren't necessarily gone. talk about negative. Syquest did officially disappear didn't they?

Aureal didn't say they are dead, they said they are reorganizing. Hopefully this is true, because we definetly need competition in the soundcard segment. Only since Aureal has made the Vortex 1 and 2 chipsets have we seen a huge improvement in all soundcards. If Aureal hadn't been killed by Creative, we might even have our SQ3500 by now. and all you Creative followers are being amazed at what their n
ext DSP would be capable of doing, the SQ3500 would already have it.

Yes Dolby Digital in Hardware on the computer, YES MP3 decoding in Hardware, YES no CPU reliance for 3D audio (A3D). The Drivers support EAX 1, A3D 1, 2, and 3, so I'm willing to go as far as saying these cards had some of the best compatability for 3D audio. (for gamers that is)

Nope their not gone... MedaVision went under, so Aureal was formed, Aureal went under, now they just have to decide what the focus of their next company will be.
