Does "ATI/Sapphire Radeon 9800 Ultimate" come with a fan or not??!! Apparently it is required!..

Hi,

Does anybody have the "ATI/Sapphire Radeon 9800 Ultimate Edition". I believe this silent version has a passive heatsink from Zalman (which version?) but I was wondering if it also comes with one of the silent fans (which one?) from Zalman installed. I believe I read somewhere that the 9800 cards need the fan, so I was wondering if the fan comes with the ultimate edition or not?!

Thanks in advance!

Mike.

I've got one in my rig right now -- no fan, no problems. The fan is *recommended*, and the heatsinks got really really hot when it's running under load, but it works fine. I have mine o/ced to 425/365 stable. I did just order the add-on fan for it, so I'll get a chance to try it both ways.

Zalman sells a low-profile fan that specifically mounts on the ZM-80C (which is what I've ordered). The heatpipe does not have a place to mount a regular fan without some work. However, they also sell a bracket that locks onto a PCI slot screw and lets you mount pretty much any fan/fans over the card (or anything else in and around the PCI slots). Check out their website:

120mm Tornado? Now I have to wipe the Mountain Dew off my keyboard...
