does ati 8500AIW use an external power input like 9700 series?

I'm installing a 8500aiw DV and it looks like it needs to have a floppy power connector hooked up to it, but I see nothing in the documentation about it.

The power plug is for the firewire port,
you don't need it unless you have a
firewire device that needs the extra juice
