recently Asus has added 201fsb-400fsb options in my P4B533 bios.

are the 166fsb(C) and 200fsb(D) chips gonna be released sooner than we think? hmmmm

Well, Intel will need some type of performance answer to AMDs hammer chip if it performs like AMD says it will.

What would be the point of adding such a fast FSB if you don't have the RAM to support it? A 166MHz FSB would work out to about 667MHz effectively (which is supposed to be what Prescott will run on), but from 201MHz to 400MHz? A 1600MHz FSB? That's insane! And where did you hear about the "C" and "D" versions of the P4? I thought the next version of the P4 was supposed to be the Prescott (which wasn't due out until H2 2003).

At any rate, I don't see the point of a 1600MHz FSB, since Intel ditched RAMBUS.......there's no way they're going to get even that much bandwidth out of even dual channel DDRII. 12.8GB/s? Hahahahaha....

Nah, they put that in just for you. They figured you'd bust the 200 MHz FSB soon enough, so they gave you a little more overclocking room.

jbond04 ~ im already running a 166fsb so that doesnt impress me. knowing that official 667/800fsb boards might be available soon is big news tho.

i was just calling them "C" and "D" chips for simplicity. ive known about them for quite some time now. besides its the natural order of things.

we all kinda ignore the "quad pumped" numbers for the most part. its just plain old 166 and 200fsb for us. id really like to see a p4 running 200fsb 400ddr 🙂

oldfart ~ LOL! - how'd you know?!

would that be in one digit increments?

because if that is the case there is still hope for the vm with only 160 170 180 190 200
and nuthin in between

since Intel ditched RAMBUS.......not yet they haven't😉

actually a "P4 1.6A 2656mhz 166fsb/667fsb 1:1 and on current 333DDR @ cas222" is an extreamly fast package.

intel could easily claim current 333DDR as official and release 166fsb cpus & moboards very quickly.
current 400DDR is not quite yet ready for this due to cas latency but could still also release 200fsb CPUs at the same time.

I don't get it...have not seen anyone even get to 200 yet...some around 190s...but not 200...even with extreme cooling...plus intel's are locked multipler...so what's the point on adding all those high FSBs???
16x400=6400MHz...hmmmm...that would be sweet...
