Does Arctic Silver expire?

I'm about to put my computer together and the only thing that hasn't arrived yet is the arctic silver. I looked through an old box of computer stuff and found a tube of arctic silver 5 that's at least 5 yrs old. I was wondering if it is still good to use.

i dont think AS5 could be 5yrs old...maybe as3... lmfao..ive got an empty tube of orig AS around here somewhere...man time flies

I think AS5 can be 5 years old. I got some back in 2002. I remember putting it into my computer right before Thanksgiving. So that makes mine over 4 years old. Eep. I still have 40% of the tube left.

What's weird is that this exact question has come up at least twice in these forums, as I can remember. I think the mutual conclusion was that it's usually still good to go.

The cool thing would be if YOU'd please research that and let us all know.

I suppose you'd need to correspond with Customer Service at Arctic Silver, since the FAQ on their website isn't up yet. I hope you post the answer here

Ditto and I just need one application between my 3y upgrades. No sign of deterioration.

The question is, does this stuff really work any better than stuff that you buy at RS for $2? I doubt the heavy metal in this stuff really could make much of a difference at all.

Anyway, I have a big tube of some Artic Silver stuff that will probably last me another 20 years.
