Does Apple pricematch or anticompetitive?

Not trying to knock them, but just trying to learn. I'll know for sure when I walk into their retail store and see if they will price match Best Buys on an Apple product (not refurb or open box). BB has a $200 discount that I'd rather get directly from Apple, but they may tell me--politely--to go cornhole something.

They don't. I see no reason not to go to Best Buy.

Though Apple does have refurbished section on their website. That's as much of a deal as you'll get from them.

Why does it matter where the product is coming from? Apple's going to support it either way, so take Best Buy up on their discount.

<-- this...

I cannot believe that BB is $200 cheaper than Apple unless it is some obscure piece of technology...

Lol. That's like asking if Gucci price matches.

Assuming it's a relatively recent product, if you can get it for $200, take them up on it. If it's brand new, it comes with the same basic Apple Care warranty as stuff sold directly by them. I've bought Apple products from Best Buy and haven't had any issues. That's how I got my original iPad at a discount. Open box but it was in mint condition.

Obscure?
BestBuy routinely offers all of the MacBook products for less than Apple. They are often the same price as the student discount from Apple, and you can still get further discounts if you try: you can get 10% by getting a mover's pack from USPS which has a 10% off any single item coupon for BB, and there are also variable student discount coupons (I've seen $50 off or $100 off) if you qualify with a school email address.

Apple is really strict with the pricing of their products and sales. Same with Bose. BestBuy employees don't even get an employee discount. It is usually only on previous generation stuff that retailers are allowed to discount.

...

On current generation products, BestBuy often has varying discounts, sometimes $100 off different MacBooks. The top-end MBPr model (512GB w/nVidia) has been discounted by $175 possibly every single week for the past few months.
Apple's student discount price on their website is $200 off the top end MBPr, $100 off all lower models.

All this takes is a look at MacBooks on bestbuy.com. And as I said, additional discounts can still be achieved.
