Does apple juice affect cholesterol tests?

QED

Diamond Member

I had planned on getting a cholesterol screening done this afternoon.

From everything I've read you're supposed to fast for 12 hours before the test. When I woke up this morning at 5:30 though, I was thirsty, and being half-sleepy forgot about my test this afternoon and had a glass of apple juice.

Am I really gonna mess up the cholesterol test? Or should I just reschedule my screening (which would be somewhat of a pain)?

It won't make a difference I don't think. Apple juice unless pure isn't much except corn syrup, flavor and water.

If it's just cholesterol, then no problem.
However most blood tests give a blood sugar reading anyway - just make sure you disregard yours, or at least tell your doctor about the juice.

nope, wont make a difference. Will make a difference for many other test, but not cholesterol.

now, having a bowl of cereal w/ milk in the morning like a jackass like, i dunno, me...that'll mess up the results 😱
