Does apple charge for repair estimates?

I foolishly destroyed my 2011 Macbook air (water, my fault) and am not sure if it's going to be worth repairing. I have an offer for the broken laptop for parts but think I should just check with apple to see what can be done.

Do they charge for estimates (out of warranty, not that it would be covered)?

In my experience, no they don't, but that doesn't mean that their estimates will be particularly useful to you.
