Does anyone watch videos on their Ipod?

Looking to get a Mp3 player still. Flash-based devices seem a bit pricey still for the limited space you get. I could afford a 4-6GB Sansa or 4GB nano at the most.

So I'm considering a refurbished 5th gen 30GB Ipod for $180.

Only thing is that video functionality seems very very low on my list, but I did check out my friend's briefly and it did have a nice picture. I wouldn't watch movies on it, but I'm wondering if it would be big enough or good enough to watch TV episodes (24 and Lost FTW).

Also, I believe there is 3rd party software to transfer audio to an Ipod, but what about video? I really really want to avoid Itunes if at all possible, that thing is totally bunk. I know stuff like Videora converts video to the right format, but I don't know how it can be transferred.
 
I commute to and from work on the train, and have just enough time each way to watch one full episode of Lost. I watched the first two seasons that way. You would think that the screen is too small, but it's really not.
 
I purchased a small program online that converts any source, from DVD's to downloaded TV shows to the appropriate apple format. I don't remember the name of it, but it was under $20. I then add the videos to iTunes and select which ones I want synched. Works for me.

Why do you hate iTunes so much? It is simple to use, has a decent interface, and works well with the iPod.

I do watch some stuff occasionally...but I certainly use my iPod more for music than videos. I have a few comedies (Anchorman, Old School, The Big Lebowski, Austin Powers, etc.) that I have on there because I like watching bits and pieces of them when I'm stuck somewhere waiting on people. If I'm going on a trip, I'll convert last weeks episodes of shows I've missed to watch. I don't use it day to day though. If I had a long commute on a train or traveled regularly on planes...I'd probably watch things religiously.
 
I watched movie trailers on my video iPod, then it got boring after a few days, so I sold the video iPod.
 
I'd love to have one to be able to watch some of the TV shows I've missed but don't have time to watch at home. I have a 45 minute train ride to work, so it would be perfect. But, without a train ride, I can't see how I would use it.
 
I'd definitely use it more for music then movies, since primarily I'm looking for a music player while I walk to and from school. The video is just bonus/not very important, so I'm mainly looking at the iPod for hardware quality, price, and storage space. I think a hard drive based one would be just fine since I'm only doing a walk, it'd be in a coat pocket or something, and I take good as hell care of my stuff, especially electronics. So it's not like I'll be having a hard drive failure (not going to drop it hopefully, won't be jogging with it or anything) and I make sure not to fvck up my Li-Ion batteries like most people tend to.

I'd only watch stuff like TV episodes on it when I have 30-45 minutes between classes. So it's not a necessary feature for me, but just wanted to hear if it was even worth watching anything on it (which it sounds like it is).

I heard the Sansa doesn't have as good of audio/video playback quality, and more important is the storage space (though the iPods reallly should have FM tuners and voice recording!! Would be simple and cheap to add I'd bet). Sure a 4-6GB Sansa might be a little cheaper and feature-packed than a 30GB hdd Ipod, but after a big SD card to give it more memory it's going to be too expensive.

And I don't like Itunes because I don't need some bloated program to "sync" up my music. Just give me the mp3 player as removable storage in one window (a major pro of a Sansa and non-Ipod players), and I'll drag my songs in another window over to that folder. It really can't get any simpler than that. No need for some wizard or automatic crap! I asked my buddy to show me a quick demo of the video capability, and he's like I don't really wanna cause it's prolly gonna sync it up for 10 minutes. What do you know, soon as he plugs it in, iTunes takes over and we have to wait 10 minutes for it to finish. No thanks. And I don't need iTunes library to fvck with my music... it's organized just fine with Windows Explorer.
