other seldom used keys for me:

scroll lock (only to disable when i accidentally press it)
the 'right click' key (next to the right windows key)
pause/break (once in a blue moon during POST)

I used to, but I haven't thought about it in a while. Pretty nifty what the insert key does though.

Thank you. Due to your thread I now know I have a "right click" key. I had been oblivious.

Agreed. Thank god I now know where that is, totally want to use it all the time now. /sarcasm

Most F-buttons except F5? Pretty much everything in the clusters above the directional keys except delete...

I use the insert key a thousand times a day,

CTRL and Shift+insert is my preferred method of copy/paste.

left handed mouse?

Nope, right handed. Just the way I learned I guess.

For some reason I just never got into the habit of using ctrl+C and V. Which is strange, because usually I would prefer a single hand method over a two hand, but...

I figured out why I use ctrl and shift+insert instead of ctrl+c and v.

It allows easy access to the arrow keys while copying/pasting. Particularly useful in Excel.

THIS for sure. Also, holding down the Insert key whilst booting can get you into the BIOS if the MB is in a failed overclock condition and won't boot and hitting DEL/F2/whatever wont' get you into the BIOS. Works most of the time. Much easier than having to disconnect all the wires, yank the case out, open it up and either move the CLR_CMOS jumper and/or yank the battery.

Bruceb = non-overclocking Communist.

Just kidding. Seriously, the Ins key has saved me much trouble over the years. Not to mention toggling my KVM.

I use pause/break quite a bit

Scroll lock ... I use VERY rarely,
At work, it is handy sometimes within Lotus Notes, but, hopefully we won't be stuck with that heap too much longer....
At home, I used to use it when I ran 2 computers on my desk with 1 keyboard/mouse to control them (was using Synergy, and had slackware box and windows box side by side sharing keyboard and mouse).... scroll lock would essentially tell synergy "stay on this PC", Was usefull when gaming to prevent accidently scrolling to the other PC which would then defocus the game...

I use insert frequently

I don't have "right click" key, or "windows" key, since I use an IBM Model M keyboard.
Also, I use the Dvorak layout, and I've pulled all the caps off of the keys, that way, if I switch to QWERTY, I'm not quite as confused as if the letter caps were there, but in the wrong place.

What prompted you to try the Dvorak layout in the first place? I'm a touch typist; just looking at the layout screws me up, nevermind trying to use it. Also, I'm a Windows-Key maniac. Loves me that Windows key.

insert: shift+insert to paste in the linux terminal
scroll lock: almost never. I've used it maybe a couple times with excel
pause: system properties (win+pause)
'right-click'/menu key: very often, to run things as admin from the Win7 start menu.

Ehhh ... was 1998 or 1999, I was in college and I was drunk. I liked the concept of not having to move my hands around as much when typing so I could type a bit faster...

"Not move hands as much?" You must have small hands. I'm a touch typist and my hands don't move from the "home position" unless I'm typing the number keys up top...never did get the muscle memory going for those keys.
