Does anyone use HostPC.com?

:)

If anyone else is using HostPC.com, can you try installing Simple Machines Forum via Installatron and see if you can upgrade to SMF 1.1.3 via the Admin > Packages feature of the forum control panel?

I keep getting "Modified Parsing Error" messages. I have contacted both the tech support and also one of the folks at Simple Machines. Tech support says that it is a forum code problem, while Simple Machines says that it is a server issue.

Can anyone try this?

Thanks!

Anyone at all? I'm sure there are some HostPC users here since I signed up thru it via the Hot Deals section.

Why not open a helpdesk ticket? I use hostpc and I must say they have some of the best customer service when it comes to problems. I've had to open two helpdesk tickets in the past and have always had very quick responses.

Yep, I am actually communicating with them via Help Desk and at the same time also with Simple Machines Forum's community support. SMF says that I have safe mode on, while Host PC says that I have safe mode disabled.

I just want to get other HostPC users take to see if my installation of the forum software somehow just screwed up. I used HostPC's Installatron feature and also downloaded a copy from Simple Machines Forum.

I use HostPC and have SMF forum installed and running. I didn't use installatron though. Just do it the old fashioned, just as easy.

Yep, I installed it via Installatron before I uninstalled it and installed it manually by downloading the package from SMF's website.

My problem is that when I try to download an add-on via the Admin Control Panel > Packages I would always get a Modification Parse Error. I even got this error when I had version 1.1.2 of SMF installed and tried updating it to 1.1.3 via the Admin panel.

Right now, what I'm trying to do is install a Visual Verification add-on so that I can minimize spamming.

Do you think you can try this out?

Well, I realized that I had another HostPC account and the forum worked there. It was partly due to some confusion on my part, but HostPC tech support and SMF community support did a great job in figuring out the confusion. I was told that safe mode is done in a domain basis and not per account, so I had two domains pointing to one account and one of the domains had safe mode enabled and the other domain had safe mode off.

Tricky. Why was it in safe mode to begin with?

Hey, sorry I didn't try it out, was out of town all weekend, looks like you got it figured out though.
