On Friday Hugo Chavez was supposedly ousted after a bloody protest, and an interim president was sworn in. But now that interim president has resigned after massive protests were held by Chavez supporters. I don't get it.:confused:

From my glance at the story in this mornings paper it seems there is a treaty the US and OAS countries signed regarding what is considered a legitimate government. There was concern that even though power had transfered peacefully that because of this treaty the new president would not be recognized. I assume the ousted presidents supporters seized on this and protested. Got to love South American politics. Story about the whole thing here.

On Friday the White House sounded pleased with the outsing of Chavez.

This situation takes political chaos to an all new level. :)

the story behind the story is that hte CIA did their job effictivly and were able to remove an anti US leader of a country.

the fact that he was democratically elected means nothing. If you are anti US policies, and have a weak country whos military can be bought off easily, you have what you saw on the news.

the oil is now secure, no need to worry :)

Actually he was a military dictator, even if he was "elected". The bloody protest was when his goons of armed civilians killed 10+ innoccent people at a protest, then the opposition took arms and started fighting them. He then ordered his military to open fire on the 1million anti-Chavez protesters that were already attacked. He allegedly resigned, and tried to flee the country. The interim president said an election would be held in the near future. Its good for the US, Chavez was going to side with Iraq and some others in OPEC, the new government is not, which already effected the price of oil, and people should notice a 10 cent drop in price at the pump sometime in the next week or two. Basically it comes down to, the Venezuelan military resented Chavez and so did most of Venezuela. He was "elected" because he was supposed to help the poor, but he made things worse. He also decided to become friends with Cuba, a enemy of Venezuela since Cuba gurriellas tried to take it over in the '60s.

Tell me, how did the CIA bribe hundreds of thousands of Venezuela's poor? Do you have evidence to back up these claims?

I?m really starting to hate the Eurotrash and Canadians like you that blame every problem in the world on the US. Can you prove any of your allegations? It seems that all you people can do is bitch, but when your ass is in the fire or you need money you run to us. If you all don?t like the way we do things than do it your selves. Oh I?m sorry you can?t because the only influence your country has in the world is with a bunch of dam polar bears.:|

Can you provide me of some evidence that the US had anything to do with what's going on in Venezuela?

from what I read in the news paper it went like this

1. Army takes control and kicks Chavez out of office
2. People object
3. Carmona organizes a demonstration to object it
4. Army starts to shoot at the protesters, kill 16
5. Army puts Carmona as president
6. Carmona closes the congress and takes the constitution out of order
7. Carmona resigns
8. Chavez becomes president again

I'm not sure of the order of things, it makes very little sense:confused:
All in 3 days or so.
