Does anyone trust the eVGA trade-up guarantee?

They claim that if you preorder a Ti4600 you can trade it up to another eVGA card within 2 years and pay the difference between the new card and the price of what you paid for your old one (which is 399). That means that if the pricing stays the same, you are basically getting a new card for free. But in the terms of the agreement it says that they can revoke or revise the terms of the deal at anytime... and what is to stop them from charging 600 for the next geforce card?

When I emaied them about it they claimed that they will give you the depreciated value of the GF4 Ti4600 in trade-in. So if your GF4 Ti4600 is worth $100 two years from now they will give you that value, in trade in, not the $399 you initially paid.

Personally I don't consider it a very good deal as graphics cards depreciate in value very quickly, and eVGA is likely to give you less for it then you could get via simply selling it to someone else.

The wording of the advertisement is rather mis-leading because you do not get the 'free' trade-in it sounds like.

I haven't found a good trade in yet for video cards. I've seen the "we will give you a $50-100 trade in on your purchase of a video card from us" slogan before and what I saw was that they do give you money for your card but it doesn't save you any money at all. You could buy a retail from one of the online e-tailers and get a better deal at the time than from the manufacturer minus the trade in value.

Best bet is to just look for a good deal now and don't worry about a trade in cause you won't get much for it.

ATi's trade-in program for those in Canada is generally pretty good, their American trade-in program isnt anything special though... besides that your right, graphics card trade in's seldom seem very good.
The old Verto-Voodoo trade in that nVidia offered for awhile was especially poor.

That means the $399 that I pay for the product now. But they also say "eVGA.com® retains the right to revoke or revise the eVGA.com Step Up Service at will. If so, participants shall be informed within 30 days prior to any such change." This is why I don't trust the deal.

What it says is rather misleading. Email them, and you'll see they give you the depreciated price for the Ti4600.

I've been looking at them. An eVGA rep confirmed what Ganryu said in the forums on their site. Hit their site and check it out. No mention of depreciation.
