Older Microsoft game, was online on "The Zone". I played it way back in the day with my friend - it was dreadfully fun, especially in the Microsoft-run campaigns with the huge maps. I haven't played since it went opensource & free, but I was wondering if anyone actually still plays it.
For those that don't know - Allegiance is a "sort-of" spinoff of the Wing Commander/Privateer/Freelancer genre - akin to Wing Commander Armada. Basically you pick a "map" which has a number of distinct zones, and you use wormholes to travel through zones. The whole goal is to basically collect resources, research and build stuff to beat the living snot out of your opponents. Kindof RTS-like (commanders play the game mostly in RTS mode), but the actually gameplay is space flight-sim.
