My friend just got an HP athlon laptop using an ATI IGP320M chipset. It currently has 256MB of PC2100 DDR of unknown cas latency. As the memory is shared between the video and the rest of the system with this chipset and he is limited to 133Mhz FSB, I was thinking that getting lower latency RAM(and more of it) would give him the most speed benefit on an Athlon. After checking all the usual places, I've only been able to find cas2.5 or 3. As it's an OEM laptop, he has no overclocking options of course and getting cas2.5 pc2700 and underclocking and dropping it to cas2 is out. Does anyone know if such chips exist anywhere, and more importantly, if this is even worth doing? He has a mobile athlon 2200+. He know the graphics chipset is a little weak, but his grandparent's were getting it for him, so he didn't really get a choice about that.
