Does anyone rent digital cameras?

Do any places rent out digital cameras? I'd like to rent one, only because I can't justify buying one just to take pics of me and some of my stuff. Even if I did buy one, I'd use it for a couple days and that's it. Does anyone know of any places that might rent one out for a day? Kind of like Rent-a-Center?

you mean kinda like buying them and returning them before the 14 day return policy expires? :)

LOL - I'd have to sucker someone into letting me borrow $500 for a couple of weeks first ;)

If you were to buy a digital camera, what are your needs? What would your realistic budget be?

If you're just doing simple web site picts, picts for FleaBay, etc. you can get away with a crude 640x480 digital camera which can be had for around $100.

Laugh now but it's possible to get a simple 640x480 digital camera for $50 or less. Just click that link and search for you guessed it, camera. I saw around four threads showing how to get a digital camera for $69 or less.

Here's the two best deals which stand out but they both involve rebates.
Samsung SDC-80 Digital Camera for $69 after rebate (must be college student)

Agfa usb digital camera, 640x480, still and motion capture, $50 hot

Never underestimate the power of Hot Deals ...

If I got one for my personal use, I'd need something in the $300+ range, sharp, clear pics - ya know? If I was doing a bunch of E[/b]bay crap, then yea, I'd grab a cheapie - but I need something more high quality

Yeah, there's places that will rent them, but usually Nikon D1s, and cameras of that caliber. If you can spring for a hundred or up per day, then go for it :)...

You can actually grab the Fuji Finepix 1400 for under $200 if you're savvy with hot deals. Check that forum on how to do it. The 1400 would be perfect for what you're needing as the quality is up there with other cameras costing much more.

Actually I'll just help you out and tell you what you need to do, I just hope you use some of the information. :)

First, go to Pricewatch and search for "Fuji 1400", you should find a vendor selling it for $225.

Go to their website and find the page. Then call up Staples at 1-800-3STAPLE to place your order. You will need to order item 437215. Here is a link for it on their page Fuji Finepix 1400. Tell them you want to pricematch it and use the place you found it for $225.

At this point you can do one of two things. You've already lowered your price to $225 shipped. There is a current promotion going on with Staples where you can get an Iomega 100 USB External drive for free with any Digital Camera over $139, but if this is unimportant to you, lower your price further with a coupon from the techbargains Web site. The current best coupon is a $40 off $200 purchase, so your shipped price for this camera will be $185.

You missed a REALLY good deal as this camera had a $50 rebate a while back, but still, $185 for this camera is truly an unbelievable price.

By the way, I used to work for Rent-A-Center and I can honestly say, except for short-term rentals, renting merchandise is the most expensive way to own it aside from a credit card you make minimum payments on.
