Not too long after coming to this forum (I originally joined in 97/98), there was a guy named "Guy Under The Bridge" that would pop up in every Intel vs. AMD thread. He was a super troll.

He'd always say stuff like "let's keep it real", then he'd proceed to spew out FUD.

Anyone remember those good old days?

I remember in the original Monkey Island there was a guy that lived under a bridge that stopped you from getting where you wanted to go. He was literally a troll.

Yes and Caputo, Nowhereman aka Pimpdaddy.

I remember the flamefests with Legion too. Let's not forget the infamous (mis)speller MagnusKain, and "philospher" Teddy Ruxpin. :)

Yes I remember those days well.

GUTB came back briefly as "Information" and received the axe fairly quickly once his pro Intel bias was detected. He/she/it would always say that overclocking AMD required hardware hacking. (goldfingers) Well let me tell you (off the record of course) I never needed dem goldfingers 'cause I did the soldering myself and it was a lot of fun. I still have a KA7-100 RAID with 850 that was soldered to 1GHz. The board's capacitors had an electrolytic premature ejaculation which announced its end of life early. CPU is fine and makes a nice paperweight as it won't slide across my desk easily. :)

Cheers!

Which guy was Teddy Ruxpin again? Who was the guy who made totally nonsense posts as if he just smoked a giant bowl and had a sig that said "Timetimehalftatime"?

The guy was my favorite... He designed motherboards for a living, was very wealthy, drove awesome cars, travelled overseas a lot, was incredibly good looking, very built, etc. That guy had it all!

(Well, in his head, anyway.) :)

Anyone remember CRAMITPAL? Although he only posted in the articles, he could turn anything into a war.

Wasn't he also a bodybuilder and a lawyer too?

I remember many of these names, but not all of them.

To be honest, I was excited about the prospect of seeing 8-way AMD motherboards that supported RDRAM.

PCResources, yes, I remember (though I'm too young to remember GUTB here, but I saw him at another forum - Ars I think). He was in the Swedish special forces, or some weird crap like that. ;)

Didn't he pretend to be a lawyer too? At one point he was going to "help" somebody that got screwed in an online transaction involving a computer monitor - there was a big thread about it.
