Does anyone regularly use a briefcase?

I remember when I was a kid my father would take a briefcase to and from work every day. I think it was a symbol of the working man. Thinking about it, I don't think I see people using briefcases at all anymore. Are laptops the new briefcase?

i used one when i started working, but it was a pita to carry around, especially with courthouse security

Briefcase looks very professional, imo. If I get a desk job, I'd definitely get a briefcase.

I carried one when I was a business agent for my union. ALWAYS seemed to need a lot of hard copies of stuff. Hated the dammed thing, but was a necessity.

Same. It's good exercise. Mine is usually 10-15 lbs and I walk more than a mile to and from where I park when I go to class.
