Does anyone read anymore? With POLL

In this day and age, I don't think I have a single friend who actually spends time reading books. Everything that they read is either on the internet or in a newspaper. Other than that, they gleam no social/physical entertainment from TV or video games. The only time they read is if they have too for a class.

ATOTers seem to be pretty smart people (sometimes) but we also spend a lot of time on our computers. How many of us pick up a book every now and then?

im usually reading something, im in the middle of 3 or 4 books right now and have yet to get into the national geographic that came in last week

Most of the stuff I see in bookstores is self-serving crap nowadays.

I'd much rather read Starship Troopers ten times over than the junk by politicians who want us to think they're cool.

currently reading another Second World War book by John Keegan. had already read Six Armies In Normandy which I enjoyed. this one is bigger and a little more awkward to carry around but it's good as well.

I read all the time. I love Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels. Stephen King, Clive Barker, the Harry Potter series, C.S. Lewis, Tolkein, Alan Dean Foster etc. Lately I have been reading Murder/Mystery books between really good books, just to fill teh time.

I used to read constantly, my mom used to limit us to 1 book per year of age... That way she could keep track of how many books we had out. I frequently had 10+ out at once.

Unfortunately the usual adult responsibilities have reduced my reading significantly, plus in recent years my vision has become essentially useless without contacts. By the end of the day when I might want to read I'm ready to pull my contacts out & reading doesn't happen.

About all I read outside of textbooks is whatever free magazines I'm getting. Of course that comes down to GamePro and CGW. And I even have some books checked out from the library. But you guessed it, they are preceded by QA in the call number, hence are math/computers. I'm REAL interesting. Seriously.

I read about physics and science... non-fiction only. What's the point in reading if you aren't learning something?

I'd be pretty surprised if anyone here read more than I do. I'll say one thing, it's absolutely helped me in my career.

Due to time constraints, I don't read anywhere near as much as I used to, but I have read thousands of books, mostly scifi.

I only read if it is required of me, and even then, I really half a$$ it.

See, in grammar-middle school, reading was mandatory, and we had to keep a LOG of the fvcking pages we read every day. This made me develop a hatred of pleasure reading.

Did some pleasure reading in middle and high school; none as of late.
