Does anyone produce an SODIMM to PCI SSD adapter?

If such a device existed it would be much more expensive than a conventional flash based SSD. It would need a big battery to preserve the contents of RAM while the machine is shut off.

There might be a RAM disk card like this, but you'd still probably find that a regular SSD is cheaper.

SODIMMs and DIMMs are volatile memory - not NAND. To preserve data, it would have to have constant power. All memory chips are not created equal.

I also have a lot of memory sticks lying around - it would be nice to be able to slap these on a card to use as a RAM drive. I currently have some of my RAM dedicated to a RAM drive, which is used as swap disk for Chrome, IE, and windows temp files. I don't see the point of giving up write cycles on my SSD for this sort of thing, and I don't want to slow things down with a spindle drive, so the ram drive works perfect for this purpose. I also use it for all my internet downloads - if I want to keep a download I'll move it to a permanent location. I don't care about loosing data when I power down - I like all the temp stuff being deleted when I restart.

I found this:

no longer being sold. I think its cheaper to just buy more ram and create a RAM drive, assuming your OK with the drive losing everything when you power down.
