does anyone play soldier of fortune 2?

its pretty random, i'll be playing and al of a sudden it freezes and i can't even move the cross hair and also can't exit the game

anyone know what might cause this?

i have an athlon 3000+ CPU

a gig of ram and a 160 gig hard drive i just bought

also my vid card has 256 of RAM and its a 9600 XT or pro (can't remember what one it is)

Is this a sudden occurrence or have you always had this issue? Are you getting any warnings in the console window?

i used to play it, played it for a long time too. best fps game i ever played.

anyway, i never had any problems with it. should run fine even on a system thats not all that hot, technology-wise. your system should have no problems playing it.

i've had my anti-virus start scanning while i played a few times and it really slowed everything down. sure its not that? maybe a mod you have installed got corrupted?

SoF2 was easily the best FPS, SoF3 would rock right now.

It could be something in the background doing it, but it might also be PB.

no kidding! sof3 would be nice but hell, if they released sof2 with updated grphics, i would be all over it.

i JUST installed the game (had to reformate) and i never had this issue before

as for mods, i have none

at 1st it seemed to only do it when they were giving medals at the end of the matches: they would start to appear, then it would just stop at one and sit there

it seemed to take a long time to load up but then i opened the right ports on my router for it (what ports do you guys use?) and now it starts right away

i seem to be having less lock up less frequently when im not using a minimizer

(and what the hell happend to all the RMG desert maps? )

you are using a mod if you are seeing medals show up at the end of the matches. the stock game doesn't have medals.

i think it's part of the ROC-mod, but the medals always come at the end of the game.

does your computer crash in any other games or just SOF2? do you have the gold version patch? (always have to ask that one) try disabling some stuff like AA and ASF and any special sound settings, cause sometimes they can have incompatibilities

yeah, there is a setting that says allow downloads, yes or no.
if you select yes, it will download any mods/maps that the server uses before you join the game. thats probably how you got it.

its been a long time since i played, but they get installed under your sof2 folder, in a folder called mp or multiplayer. i can't remember exactly what the folders are called now.
sorry i'm not that much help, but like i said, its been a long time since i played. maybe soemone else who currently plays can tell you.

i haven't played since the summer and im suprised the hexopalooza server isn't up any more

that and the COPS server isn't up, along with no more RMG maps i miss the old days

there was one mod i played with that was amazing, the MP5 had a lazer sight, silenced, and had a scope, (there were differences with other guns too) anyone play with that mod?

sof2 has pretty much died. when i was playing regularly, there were tons and tons of servers. now there aren't many. lots of people have moved on to newer games.

it happens with pretty much all games. i have yet to find a multiplayer fps game where i have as much fun as i did in sof2. nothign has the same feel as sof2 did. CoD and CoD2 come close, but not quite.

i hate the crosshairs and the disappearing hud/crosshairs in those 2 games. i found a server last night that had a always on crosshair and it didn't spread out. i liked that but i got disconnected from that server because of lag and now i don't remember what it was called.

i started playing it, the game blows now

one of the bigger servers gives you pretty much unlimited ammo

yet they have a penalty for "camping" and people say camping is for noobs... and the unlimited ammo isn't?

you get about 200+ rounds in a clip for an AK

talk about hypocrisy

I moved on from SoF2 to CS:S. Not the same style of game, I'm afraid, and probably not nearly as good, but it looks pretty

If you manage to find a decent replacement, let me know. FPS games seem to have gone downhill since SoF, no good CTF out anymore. I'd play UT but when I tried it out, I found it to be too easy. Then again, I ROXORD at SoF2 and CS:S...

well countrstrike is somewhat similar but it only has one game type...and when you die, you have to sit out until the round ends. thats the major reason i dislike it.

you might try day of defeat. it ww2 based but its nowhere near as good as SOF2 was.
