The only one I've played was Planetside. It was okay, but since it's *all* PVP, you are frequently competing against a lot of people who have every ability in the game (including those friggin' indestructible giant mechs they added in the expansion), and it can be tough to find people who will work together well unless you join an organized guild. I found it a frustrating game to get into.

I don't understand your question, though. It's like a simplified version of something like BF2, but with several hundred players in one (very large) area instead of just 32 or 64 in a significantly smaller one.

Planetside has different areas of control, kinda like zones in everquest or WOW. If I recall they are different continents. You have to obtain transportation to these different areas. The brief way to explain it is that a population cap is imposed on these different zones, when the cap is reached you have to wait to get into a particular zone. This typically consists of 100's of players.

This information may be outdated, it is from my personal experience quite some time ago.

PlanetSide is the only one I know of, mildly fun, you can play for free with the reserves up to a certain battlerank.

There's Battleground Europe (AKA World War II Online). I never understood the appeal of adding a monthly fee to an FPS.

to keep track of stats. maybe keep items from 1 play session to another? i figure most FPS games don't need it.

Wait for Huxley. Planetside was well done but is so far into it's life cycle the only people still playing are hardcore & have everything.
