lupus or know someone who has lupus? I could really use some good insight from someone who has it to try and relate with my girlfriend who has it. Thanks.

I know someone who has Lupus. She is currently on disability and cannot work. She actually manages quite well and has much needed support from friends and family as she lives alone and is not married. She says that some days are better than others and for her, keeping busy is how she manages.

Sorry to hear about your girlfriend...is this a new diagnosis?

I know someone that HAD lupis. My grandmother did but she passed away 3 years ago. I can tell you tho she was Diagonosed with it aout 25 years before it got her. and she wasent supposed to live more then 7 years.

My best friend's mom has it, but she's doing okay now though. I think she's known about if for at least 4-5 years now, and she's probably 55 years old. She's on a lot of medication, but she seems to be in great health and spirits to me when I see her. She's just the nicest lady, and I really hope this disease doesn't change her quality of life all that much.

I hope your gf is doing well too! How long has she known?

Have her get in touch with her local chapter of the Lupus organization. Donna was on the Board of Directors a few years back. While there is no "Official" cure yet, it is very rare for people to die from it and most of the time able to be handled.

It hasn't been a new diagnosis. During the time that my girlfriend and I were friends, she never really brought it up. The reason why all the info was brought forward to me now was because it had scared away her other boyfriends. I had told her that it'd only make the two of us stronger and not to worry about it.

my older sister has it. 🙁 she could not manage her life as she had always been a spoil kid. boyfriend of 10 years dumped her in the end and she tried to kill herself many times(I thank God that her angel carried her throughout the process). It brought our entire family to our knees especially my mother. but luckily after 3 years of treatment, she manage to have it undercontrol and lives happily ATM.

There were times I wanted to send her into a mental insititute becuase she abused my mom. :| but my mom never wanted to, so she kept on taking care of her. needless to say she made it out and currently attending college getting all A's in her classes. I'm proud of her 🙂.

best advice would be, be patient, have tolerance, and give encouragements. Its a huge backpack from now on. good luck

One of my older sisters died of lupus 34 years ago. She got it at 13 and died at 28, I was 11 at the time. Now her only daughter, my niece, was diagnosed with it 3 years ago. Treatments are much better these days. My niece seems to be doing fine.

i work with a woman who has lupus. She can only work a couple days a week b/c she gets tired so quickly. I don't really ask her too much about it, seeing as it's not the most glamourous title to be known for.

I'm sorry to hear that. One of my old friends back home was diagnosed with it. She's 21 right now. She's on medication, but I'm not sure exactly what.

My friends sister has it. She gets tired all the time, and wants my friend to help her with everything, even if it means packing up her kids(my friend) and going to her sis's house cause her husband is a lazy SOB.
