Also - depending on how the newspaper does it's delivery (inhouse, outsourced, or otherwise), you can make some very good money doing route subs for people.
Here's how it works - M-Sat I got paid $.17 a paper to deliver them. I had about 180 stops M-F, about 200 on Saturday, and 250 on Sunday. On Sunday I got paid $.32 a paper to deliver. That's not terrible jack on it's own.
With an alternate route, many of the carriers were offering a full 150% pay for the sub. So instead of getting $.17 and $.32, they were making $.25 and just shy of $.50 a paper.
You sub on a Saturday and a Sunday for a route my size and it's $175 for about 8 hours of work. And that's straight cash homey.
