Does anyone make an 845-D motherboard with both Sdram and DDR slots?

Eventually, when I find a job again, I plan on upgrading my system to a pentium 4 with an 845 based motherboard. Now I've got tons of Sdram in my current system, and since I'm a cheap mofo I like to save as much money as I can. So I was wondering if any company manufactured a motherboard that had both Sdram and DDR sockets that way I could use my current memory and then one day I could save up the money and buy myself some ddr memory.

Does such a beast exist?

only on the via chipset version I believe. You are SO, either plunk down the money for a ddR mb or by an athlon system so you don't loose has much performance using sdram.

PC Chips does have a board that supports both DDR and SDR....but I can't remember the model number off hand.

I can't think of any other manufacturer (off the top of my head) that has one.

Me and VIA don't get along so well, so any board based on a Via chipset is out of the question. I'm sure they probably work fairly well nowadays, but once you've been burned so many times by a company's chipset you eventually want nothing to do with them. Know what I mean?

Given the alternatives of a Via board with sdram + ddr support (on either platfrom Intel or AMD), or having to just buy DDR memory when it comes time to upgrade, I'll definately choose the latter of the two. I'd like to save money, but I'm not going down the Via road again.

I'm sure I'll get flamed for my opinion but I don't give a flying hoot.

Now if intel only made a chipset for AMD cpu's, then I'd gladly buy myself an XP 😀

AndyHui...

What chipset does the PC Chips board use? I've used some of their products in the past and they've left much to be desired.

Sorry, it was ECS, not PC-Chips (same company anyway).

The board I was thinking of was the P4S5A, based on the SiS 645 chipset.
