I've bought several cheap adapters from china. Usig it on USB 3.2 gen 2 (10gbps) external drives which have type C connectors. Only one of the adapters works at all, and then only at 5gbps, but it's good enough for my purposes.^ Agreed but some things like phones/tablets/laptops now have only USB-C.
Also, you can get adapters much cheaper on Aliexpress, maybe ebay as well if willing to wait ~3 weeks for delivery from China. Whether the quality is equal or not, I can't say. That would concern me, as I don't like the fragility of surface mount USB-C ports to begin with, so having the adapter fit as well as possible is a priority.
My laptop is only USB type C. Using an A to C adapter with a receiver means a lot of plug sticking out of the outlet and it's really easy to knock the adapter around and jockey the USB port around. I'm concerned about potentially breaking the USB port.Yeah, that adapter will do the job.
But I ask why? MOST keyboards and mice operate very slowly and it is entirely adequate to use a USB2 port with its slower data rate. That is why they come with USB2 transceiver plugs. Connecting those to a USB3 port will NOT improve performance at all. Personally, I prefer to connect USB2 devices to USB2 ports and leave the faster USB3 ports free for use with real USBB3 devices.
Maybe look for a BT set?My laptop is only USB type C. Using an A to C adapter with a receiver means a lot of plug sticking out of the outlet and it's really easy to knock the adapter around and jockey the USB port around. I'm concerned about potentially breaking the USB port.
That would only work with the Lenovo devices they listed as being compatible. That is not a universal receiver.I found this and it could potentially work. I've never bought a receiver separate from a mouse before though.
