Does anyone make a truly rugged touchscreen chromebook or Android tablet?

Our students are autistic, and often press really hard on screens, drop them, or throw them across the room when they have fits. Our school has been slowly switching over to Apple Ipads, because evidently the Chromebooks stop working when pushed on hard, or when thrown, but the Ipads evidently don't.

Is there a similar "tough" Android tablet that would stand up to things like the Ipads? I hate watching schools get suckered into using more expensive hardware with their taxpayer money.

I don't follow tablets at all, and I'm pretty anti apple, but a quick look on amazon says their ipad prices aren't too bad. You can get ruggedized computers of all kinds, but you usually pay a premium for them, and many times they come with a performance penalty. If ipads are working well, I'd be inclined to stay with them. It's a standardized known quantity that can likely be relied on across generations. Some kind of android tablet may not be available next generation. If apple's software is an issue, then it may be worth exploring other options, but otherwise, I'd stay put.

Doesnt amazon make tablets for kids? like, having a rubberized frame? I know samsung has them but they cost more than ipads.

Why not just get otterbox defender tablet cases? They're ruggedized and have hard screen protectors. They're what my employer uses for our field deployed ipads.

If price is a concern there are cheaper options. Just get an acceptable tablet and install a ruggedized case with screen protection.

I Don't know of any tablets or laptops that won't take damage if purposely thrown though...
