Does anyone make a HSF like this?

I've been doing a lot of looking around at HSF's and realized that nothing seems to fit exactly what I want.. The high performance models are louder than hell and yet that's what most serios OC'ers (myself included) need.

My dream would be to find a company that makes a high-performance heatsink with an integrated temperature probe for a variable speed fan. When the machine is idling, the fan slows down and doesn't make as much noise - IE, night time. When the CPU runs hot (Gaming, etc.) the thing kicks into high speed and provides maximum cooling. After all, when I'm gaming, the speakers are cranked and I'm not going to notice the fan noise.

Of course, this would have to be a big enough HSF so that it dissipates heat well with a low RPM fan when the CPU is idling. Something along the swiftechs seem to do a good job.

Anyhow, that's my dream. Anyone ever seen anything like this? Anyone ever suggested anything like this to a manufacturer?

There have been RDJD heatsinks which are basically HSFs with temperature controlled fans, but these suck for overclocking. What you want is a Swiftech MC-370 with a quieter fan like a Y.S.Tech. Or you can buy it with the Papst and invest some money in a rheobus/rheostat where you can control exactly how fast/how loud the fan is. You can pick one up at our sponsor: Sidewinder Computers 🙂. Other than that I don't know of anything with a built-in temperature probe.
