Does anyone like to drink good beer and not get plastered?

man, i had a few Bud Lights over the weekend after a few shots of Jaeger... Bud light sucks soooo much ass now that im used to good beer, god... its so bad now 🙁

and Killians/Smirnoff are NOT "GOOD" beer, they are the level right above bud, try a Three Floyds, or something else thats a real good microbrew. omg amazing.

i need 12 beers for myself this weekend, maybe more not sure.

I do enjoy a good beer, but as far as getting drunk from it... it can't happen. Reason being, it's so low in alcohol content that I can't drink it fast enough for it to substantially raise my BAC. So for me, beer is a "enjoy the taste and savor it" item.

When I want a good buzz, it's well drinks every time.

I don't usually drink domestic anyway, but yes, when I'm out with my wife I usually only have a couple because she's not a big drinker (two mixed drinks and she's done).

If, on the other hand, I'm out with my brother, he empties every tap in the place and I do my best to help him.

I think getting drunk defeats the purpose entirely. I drink beers because I want to enjoy the flavor, and after too many the sensory experience is completely compromised.

I have an overwhelming affinity for Belgian-style (I say Belgian-style, because there are some great breweries in the US that follow Belgian style) brews, especially the quadrupel Abbey Ales. Some of my favorites are:

Westvleteren - I've only had once while in Europe as I can't find it locally, but WOW.
Rochefort - Probably my favorite overall as I can actually find it locally. The Rochefort 10 is incredible, but I can't have more than two due to the inebriation factor.
Westmalle - Another great Trappist.
Orval - I don't actually like this one.
Three Philosophers - By a great US brewery called Ommegang. Their other brews are fantastic as well.
St Bernardus Abt 12 - Fantastic quadrupel. Their other ales are equally great.

Too many others to list really.

Descartes, with your taste for fine Belgium brews, check out Nostradamus. Excellent Belgium brown.
