Does anyone know who manufactures USPS postal scales?

Nah, not at all. Just a PITA when I try to mail out packages but don't know the weight. I'd like to do all my stuff online with USPS online shipping.

okay heres what you do......

bring 5lb weight to post office, use their self serve machine, weigh it.... see if its accurate

done

I don't understand why the digital scale at the post office is so special? Any good quality digital shipping scales will do the trick, there are at least half a dozen.

planning to get into the drug business are ya? 😉

Good idea, if you short-sell me i'll cut ya :|

A postal scale isnt even going to come close to what you need if you're going to be dealing drugs.

Most dealers are going to use a .x or a .xx /gram or ounce digital pocket setup.

LOL and I don't want to know how you know this.

Just about any digital scale will work. IIRC, Pitney Bowes is popular for their postage machines... I'd guess that they also sell scales.

Because its Nocturnal asking...

just going to Office Max's or Staples' website would make to much sense...

The best place to buy a scale like you want is at a restaurant supply store...you can get any weight incremenst you want and the start at $170 and go up from there.

Just pick up that digital USB scale from RatShack (~$9).

That thing is great for smaller package, but you'll have to eventually go to the Post Office or buy another scale later.

$37 got me a decent 30lb capacity digital scale on eBay. awhile ago.
Looks like they're even cheaper than that now.

Side note - wow, the shipping scamming is pretty rampant isn't it. Scales for $1 with $40 shipping.

Seems everytime I weigh something it is always another couple oz/pound or so at UPS, USPS, FedEx and I have a digital scale. I hate when I calculate shipping from my scale (3.89lbs) = 4lbs and USPS/UPS say its (4.10lbs) so it gets bumped up to 5lbs for shipping.

I was thinking the same thing 😉 Although .XX is not that high in terms of resolution. In the labs (Well alteast the Chemistry labs...the Engineering labs have them also but the professors don't care past .xx) they are sensitive to five decimal places or so... although its extremely hard to stabalize the last digit; so if a school can get it, you should be able to.

havent hooked it up though...🙁
Lucky you. I actually had to get one off eBay for ~$20 shipped (none available at 50014 for 200 miles  )
My only consolation is that the auction was for $20 shipped free, so that definitely cut into the sellers profits (listing fees, final value fee, paypal fee, shipping ...) 😀

How accurate are the cheaper scales though? That's my main concern, accuracy. Thanks.
Pretty accurate. The one from RatShack will complain once it exceeds ~15lbs, but I've checked it as high as ~23lbs against the scales at the PO.

Great for figuring out shipping in FS/FT 🙂

I bought one from the PO and all it says is "Made In China".

We bought our USPS scale from the local post office as well. I wanted something digital and accurate, so far it hasn't let us down. There are cheaper scales out there though.
