Does anyone know when we'll start to see recordable DVDS like what VHS is today?

im curious to find out when we'll start seeing more dvds players being able to record live television instead of VHS.

vhs is so old... anyone have any news??????

They are available, you just have to start buying them.
Until they become more common the prices will stay high and you won't see that many of them.

That, and there is still no standard (DVD + RW/-RW/R)

Thanks to MPAA I don't think that'll ever happen. No way they'd let you make perfect digital copies of DTV, HDTV etc...

Tivo and similar hard-disk recorders exist now and will drop in price.
DVD-RW / +RW exist now and will drop in price.
Hybrid disk + DVD-x devices exist now and will drop in price.

Price drops wil be similar to home audio CD recorders and DVD players: $995 > $499 > $399 > $299 > $199 > $149 over the next 4-6 years.
