Does anyone know what LCD stands for?

My teacher just asked us that. This is a computer class people, the monitor you are staring at is an LCD.

doesn't surprise me. I worked for my University's Help Desk while I was taking classes, and the guy that ran the labs came by to ask for some help one day. He had a bunch of old computers from which he wanted to scavenge enough parts to make a few working machines. My supervisor looked at him and said "You've got your own work/study students. why are you asking these guys?"

He looked at her, and said she was right, but that they were all CS majors. They knew how to *write* a program, but didn't know jack about the computers they were using to do the coding
