my brother in law had a stem cell transplant the other week, and to prepare for that they basically killed his immune system.. 2x daily total body radiation for 5 days then some killer chemo..
my sister has been posting his blood numbers on the xanga they're using to keep from having to spend their lives on the telephone while they go through this ordeal and they've been really low numbers, which I'm sure is to be expected given the situation but we're at the point now where they should start coming up, sometime between now and wednesday.. so everybody in their small universe is watching these postings of the daily numbers like a hawk! but it occurred to me today that I had no idea what we were aiming for.. what normal numbers look like, and I'd rather ask you guys, than bother her.
ok.. for an example, for sake of getting an answer that will be relevant to the info I get every day.. thursday's numbers looked like this :
WBC = .1, PLT = 17, HCT = 30
so.. do any of you know what sort of numbers would be normal, so I can tell when real progress is happening?
