Does anyone know the exact release date of the Sims 2?

As the title states... does anyone know the exact date?

the reason I ask is that some websites such as ebgames.com say that it ships on 9/14/04

the EA website says coming september 17th

then I went to Walmart and there was a huge poster that said the 16th..

I just need to know because my fiance is freaking out and can't wait to get it, and I wanna surprise her with it.

I would Trust EA more than i would Wal-Mart and a whole lot more than I would EBgames, hell EB still has a release date up for Duke Nukem Forever.

I'd be disappointed if we're only version 20. I mean, the Sims are stupid, I don't think they're going to be much better in 2 and if we're only version 20, imagine the version that created us. What is it, like version 5609375734? Aaah, I need sleep.

In most cases, games are officially released on Tuesdays; in this case, the 14th. Game stores sometimes overnight their shipments so that the titles are in stock on the release day. As far as I know, places like Best Buy, Circuit City, and other retail stores just have them shipped regularly and they get there when they get there and these stores usually have "safe" release dates on Thursdays or Fridays. That's how it works as far as I know.

Edit: I didn't make this post specifically regarding The Sims 2 but it's the general case to my knowledge and I'd expect it to be true for The Sims, as well.
