I'm trying to print some stuff on clear decal paper and need to find a printer that will print white like the Alps MD5000 used to do.
Alps went out of business and discontinued the MD5000 and I need to find a printer that will do the same.
Does anyone know of any?
I think the process is called dye sublimation, and I have seen dye sublimation printers, but I have yet to find one that will print white.

Every commercial printshop can do this. They use 6 color printing presses, with Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black ink. The last two color spots can be used for sutom colors, like clear coatings, or reflective inks, or white if you want it.

So no other printer in market today can do what the MD5000 used to do?
I'm talking about for home use.

Can't you fake it with a light yellow color instead?

The only reason to want to print white is because you're printing on colored paper. Light yellow on black, or red, or any other color of paper isn't going to look like light yellow.

Most inks are not opaque, and will not work very well if the transparency will be going over another color. I was looking for something lik this myself, and ended up finding a guy that does .001" vinyl cutouts, that works well for what I needed but I don't know whether they can print full color with that.

Not really, because any color (besides black) printed using an inkjet or color laser will come out translucent when printing on clear decal paper. When you apply that on a black background, you won't be able to see it.

Here's an example of white prints...

Now here's what it looks like when applied to something...

If you find something that works please let me know via PM, since the vinyl cutouts are kind of expensive, I'd rather print it myself if at all possible.
