Does anyone know of any lightweight powerpoint viewers under Linux?

I installed Xubuntu on my parent's PC (P4 1.4 GHz, 128MB RAM) and for the most part, it runs great. However, when my father tries to open a pps attachment in OpenOffice, it takes forever (at least 2 minutes) for the slideshow to finally play.

So I was wondering if there are any lightweight viewers I could use to have my Dad open the attachments through it instead of having to start up Open Office?

Thanks in advance,

I think MS has a standalone viewer for WinXP, but I haven't heard of anything re: Linux. You've probably already considered this, but an extra 128-256 MB would make a world of difference on that machine.

Well, at first I thought lack of RAM was what held the machine back...I do agree that even 128MB of RAM would be wonderful and I plan on get more of it soon. However Xubuntu is so small that even with OpenOffice and Thunderbird running, I barely break the 100MB mark of used RAM. I believe it's more of a CPU problem; as it is maxed out throughout the whole process.

Openoffice is great but it's huge for just viewing the pps files...🙁

Thank you SleepWalker. I also found that program via google before posting here. However I can't get it to run under Xubuntu for some reason.

The file there is a .jar file which is created from java. Install the latest java runtime environment package from ubuntu's repositories (might be in universe). Then go to the command line, navigate to where the file is, and type "java -jar tonicpoint.jar" to execute it. You could probably make a script to run that command so all you'd have to do is double-click the script file.

Awesome. That worked. Thanks a lot! I was missing the latest javqa runtime and I hadn't realized it.
