Well I need to convert files like, movies to mp4 because they're all avi. And I already have that Hamster video converter ****, but it jacks the videos up because the sound and video dont match up after it's converted. And it pisses me off. So I need to know if anyone knows of a good video converter that I can download. I already tried uploading files to the internet, but they were too big and BLAH~!!! Please help. Thanks in advance.

Converting for a device in particular, or for youtube or something? What's wrong with using your avis? You'll only lose audio/video quality by converting to another lossy format.

Either way, Handbrake is a great converter for transforming files to h.264 mp4/m4v.

might be lossless avi directly off a capture device (fraps puts it into lossless avi as an example)

but probably not ^_^

to the op: handbrake is good and relatively simple. if you feel like learning and have a LOT of videos to convert, then you might try learning how to script and use the encoders directly, instead of through a front-end like handbrake.

Yeah, I never tried Handbrake, but I do have Super and it works nice. You just need to know what format you want the output in. Convertxtodvd is easiest to use when going directly to a DVD (like for putting golf lesson clips onto a DVD for easy viewing)
