Does anyone know if I'm being flagged by STEAM?

I've been switching my account from desktop to laptop several times a day, way more than I ever did before.

Just lately (maybe the last week) I've getting "could not connect" errors. When it first started I would get maybe one or two of them, but the last 2-3 days I've gotten increasingly more (sometimes it would take 5 minutes to log in on the other PC), and last night I couldn't log in at all when trying to switch to the laptop. I tried at least 10 times. Then I tried to log back in on the desktop; no dice. It was like my Steam account has been locked.

This morning it logged in as usual when I turned my desktop on, but I just tried to switch to the laptop and got another error.

Did I trigger some fail safe? Does Valve think I'm doing something fishy (I'm not)? Or is this normal? Has it happened to anyone else here?

The desktop is W7 and the laptop is XP.

I had connect errors shortly after 5 PM Pacific on Wednesday and Thursday, the "issteamdown" website said I was not alone. It cleared up later.

That was the first time in weeks/months.

So it's just bugs in the servers.

I guess I won't worry about it. It was just strange that it started just as I began switching computers a lot, but maybe just a coincidence.

It is a bit annoying that Steam won't let you have 2-3 active machines, only logged in at different times. It would be nice to have some low graphics requirement games on my work PC and (other work PC) Surface Pro tablet to use away from my gaming PC.

Yes I can keep re-entering passwords and responding to validation emails, but why can't Steam notice that I'm only ever using one of my PCs at a time? /rant

Only problem I'm having with Steam lately is they keep downloading huge updates to some fairly old titles. I think it's just redownloading the same updates, not sure but it's been happening every day, especially with Metro LL, that game is either doing the same updates or there has been a dozen updates for this week.
