Does anyone know if Dell will resend me Windows XP? (UPDATE: Found it!)

I have a 2 year old laptop (1 year remaining under warranty), and for the life of me i cant find my system restore discs (with Windows XP Home on them).

Before i go wait on hold for an hour, does anyone know offhand if they are likely to send me another copy?

I think so. Don't know about Dell, but Sony charges money for its Vaio recovery discs.

When I did tech support for Gateway and someone called and had lost this disk we could tell then to do one of two things. If it was registered contact Microsoft for a replacemant disk if not buy a new one.

I doubt they will replace it for free, but then again YMMV. Give them a call the worst they could tell you is no.

Your key should be in the bottom of the laptop, right? Just d/l a version and use the key.

Or find somebody who will make an iso of the cd and download it...

If I knew how to make iso's I'd make you an iso of the windows xp disc and host it on my (slow) server
