I have some games that I was wondering if they are compatable with an imac. I am not trying to start a flame war of which is better mac or pc I just want to know if any of these are compatible with an imac. These are currently running on my win98se machine. Sorry about being such a long list but someone has to know the answer to my question.

Quake 3
Quake 2
Unreal Tournament
Descent 3
NFS High Stakes
Thief the Dark Project
Half Life
Rainbow Six
Police Quest Swat
Janes WW2 Fighters
War Craft 2 and expansion set
Command & Conquer Red Alert
Daikatana
Comanche Gold
OutPost 2
Myst
Mechwarrior 2
Harley Davidson Race Across America
Duke Nukem 3D
Army Men 2
The Sims
Lego Island
Lego Creators

Some how I kinda doubt that any of these will work but I thought I would ask.

LOL I would have to say that is a good use for one. I would not own one. My friend's parents are considering get a new computer which will more then likely be an imac and he wanted to know if any of his games would run on an imac.

There is a really simple answer to your question: no.

These games are for PCs, not Macintoshes. The hardware on a Mac and x86 PC are very different in many ways (though they are becoming more similar slowly). But, if you own a game and are playing it on your PC, it is not going to be playable on your Macintosh, iMac, G4, Quadra, IIci, whatever.

If you really want to know about Mac games, go to www.macgamer.com.

A few minutes searching Google.com and guess what I found?

Apple.com Games select Mac Products Guide under Get More Info.

CompuExpert.com sells PC and Mac games. This should be self-explanatory, if you see one of your games on this web site's Mac center then it's compatible with the Mac OS.

What are you using the iMac for? It's a decent gaming machine except for the graphics suck suck suck suck suck suck. Even the newest top-of-the-line iMac DV SE introduced at this week's MacWorld Tokyo only features a RAGE 128 Ultra w/ 16MB graphics card which is a lot better than the original 2MB anemic Ati Rage. But still it sucks compared to what the PC offers.

wait, are you asking if there is a mac version available or if the PC version he has already will work on an iMac?

If it's pc versions on an imac, yes it will work with the right software, but you'll take a preformance hit.

imacs can't upgrade their video, the towers can have a radeon or geforce mx. I think there's a mac version of the sims, but it doesn't run all that well on my voodoo3 so I'd not recommend it.
