Does anyone know how to setup WIN2K to work with Comcast@home?

Hi everyone,

Can anyone please help? I don't know where to start to setup my Win2K to work with Comcast@home. My computer is hook up through a router Netgear RT314 and works fine under WINME. However, I am unable to find the same settings under Win2K. Any help and point me into a right direction is greatly appreciated.

The first thing to do is make sure you have the right computer name in there. This should be included either on the work order sheet or yo ucan call them to ask

Do it by right clicking on My computer and go to the Net ID tag and select Properties.
Also is it dynamic or static IP? Is TCP/IP set to detect autmatically?

On the cable modem, are the LEDs correct meaning is it working the way it should?

I use Cox@home but my sister has Comcast up in Folsom. So I set hers up. There may be a problem with your modem. If its a Com21, the ones comcast hands out are kinda crap. But if you suspect it, jsut call them up and tell them you want it replaced. Also have them credit you back for time down.
