Does anyone know how to modify some BIOS?

I have a set up BIOS for my motherboard (P4SD-VX) and I need to change the AGP Aperture size, but since it's a "custom" mobo with very limited BIOS settings, I need to find a way to change the AGP Aperture size.

So, I downloaded a copy of my BIOS, and I was wondering if anyone knows how to edit them so that my AGP Aperture size is automatically set at 128mb vs 64mb.

Or possibly find a way so that the options are unlocked for me to change.

I guess you could use some hex editor on the .bin bios file (I have no idea, thats why I'm asking if anyone can do it)...

It is hypothetically possible to modify the BIOS. In general, though, it isn't something that one tries. The chances of bricking the board are quite high, and the reverse engineering is moderately heavyweight.

...very carefully... (couldn't resist).

I suspect its as easy as you suggest, by using a hex editor to modify the appropriate setting. Consider though, that the file is probably illegible, even with a hex editor. Also, it may have some sort of internal hashing, which is checked before it allows you to flash with it...changing 64 to 128 might result in a new calculated hash, which didn't match the hash embedded in the file - and it would fail to flash. But so far, this is all speculation... The *best* reason not to customize you BIOS is this: If you screw it up, you probably won't be able to boot the PC up enough to undo your mistake. Many older motherboards required a CMOS chip to be replaced if the BIOS flash went bad.
