Does anyone know how to get my hp 680C to run off usb?

I just put together a new PC with an Athlon 800 and ABIT KA7-100. The mobo comes with preinstalled usb ports and I would like to find out if I can get my hp 680C to run off one of them. I can't find any documentation on hp's site that even refers to a 680C and usb. Yes the printer is old, but it runs too well to just retire it.
 
I believe you can get a parralel to usb cable. I saw some at Compusa the other day. They weren't too expensive but I don't remember the exact price.
 
I've got the cable but the PC won't detect the printer when it's plugged into the usb. I tried to switch printer ports but none of the names given appear to be the usb.
