Does anyone know how to get around the fixed bay thing in Thinkpads ?

So my R50e Thinkpad has a fixed bay and I am considering how convenient it would be for me to put in a bay battery, but the drive is fixed in there is there anyway around this issue how can it become "unfixed" ?

Do they even sell a "modular" battery for Rs? I've seen them in older model Ts.. I think.. maybe I'm thinking of a HDD(?) - dunno but as far as I know the 9-cell is your only solution for longer portable-life.

Well I do realize that but it's having a drive in your bay when you don't need it, gets you angry a little, but I understand it's because the R50e series is a budget laptop and therefor they had to lock down some features such as having the drive locked in, but then again I am just trying to add some convenience to my usage here, I was thinking If I can't get the extra battery in there I at least can manage some dummy drive right? But doesn't the R series have the same drive that is in the T-series they look the sae to me and if so then the battery that fits in the T series bay will fit in the R series bay right ?

Hmmm.... Ya know... I've seen a lot of R series. The only time I saw an R50e, I dismissed it as an item of interest as I've got all these other ThinkPads around me all the time.....

But Fixed bay...... What about the screw just under the chassis in plain site near the optical??? Does the 50e have one?? If not, I doubt it's swappable.
