Does anyone know how to align a satalite dish?

It's not that hard, but it's easier if you have 2 people. Your receiver should have a screen that you imput your zip code and it tells you what direction to aim it. If you use directv you can also get this on their website. Use that info as a basic guide & make sure you don't have anything blocking that area of the sky before you mount it to your house. Once you have it mounted attach the cable to tv so you can use the receiver to fine tune it to the best spot. The receiver has a screen that beeps, the faster the beep the stronger the signal.

Definitely easier with two people - and make sure the guy outside with the dish has a cell phone or something so he can communicate with the person inside... Nothing more fun than just yelling back and forth! 😀

The easiest way I found was to use my little 6? TV . Take it and the receiver with extension cord and sit next to the dish. If you mount the antennae perfectly vertical then you can use the protractor on the mount to get the correct angle. Then you only need to move the dish right or left.

Good Luck

too bad you don't know what angle to use...

you need to know a few things, then trigs to determine the angle.

um, one would be your longitude. another would be where above the equator the satellite is.

If you go into the setup menu on the receiver and put in your area code it will give you the azimuth (east/west)and the elevation (angle).
