Does anyone know how much Win2K Datacenter cost ?

I am just curious, not that I'd like to buy it. I know this is probably only available to OEMs. But anyway ... Anyone knows ? Rough estimate figure... ? Just curious

I dont believe you cant buy it by itself, its included with some very high end systems, such as Unisys' 32 CPU boxes.

I think it's OEM only, as sunner said.

You can get Win2k AdvServer for free by attending some of MS's service providor only conferences. We got two copies with 25 CAL (each) free for going to two different events. My boss signed me up for one sometime here so I can get a copy for myself 😀

I know this doesn't come in retail, but I'd just like to know the rough ballpark estimates to fulfill my curiosity.

Would think it's twice the cost of datacenter ?

since win2k server x 2 = Win2k Advanced cost ?

I think that DataCenter is the version that comes with a unique piece of hardware. Licensing is done strictly to hardware ... and in fact, you have to get patches unique to your hardware (yes, a special version of SP2 just for you).

SUOrangeman is correct. Datacenter is only available with the purchase of hardware as it is customized for each system as there is no 'standard' for > 8 x86 processors so each manufacturer does his own thing.

Um...though it's only purchasable with hardware, the numbers are more like $100k to $150k per copy. No joke....we have a copy here on a 32-way box.
