Does anyone know how much professional officals (referees) make?

Does anyone know how much professional officals (referees) make for college and pro sports. I'm curious and have no idea where i'd find this information.

Are you kidding? What kind of crap do they take that makes it so bad? So a little arguing? In the end, they're the ones with the power. I wouldn't mind making 70k a year, and only need to work for a few hours a week.

actually I just realized you were asking about all professional ref's. I recall reading during the supposed umpires MLB strike that the experienced ones make well over 200g's a year... let me double check. I might be BSing

The professional officials are paid a salary and benefits. Each sport has a different compensation program, but it safe to say that the overall package continues to get better over the years. The base salary for an NBA official is about $90,000, while veterans can make close to $300,000 (largely due to playoff incentives).

it was a NFL ref for mistakingly giving the Bengals? (not sure) more time or something. 5200 * 17 NFL weeks... they're very well paid

I think it was the seahawks/ravens game. I think the ref forgot to reset the clock.

Well

1. Its part time
2. Most typically only work 1 day a week for 17 weeks, + some meetings, only the long time refs end up doing playoff games.

NBA, MLB, and NHL refs make much more because their jobs are full time. 3-4 games a week + travel days for half the year.

It's probably quite a bit more by nw. That article sems to be over two years old.

Terms of the league's new proposal include an 85 percent increase by the 2002 season and a 100 percent increase in 2003. The final year of the five-year deal would feature a 120 percent increase over current salaries.

plus everything is paid for, and its a weekend job, 16 sundays a year. He;s been in the league for 13 years and makes great money not to say again that its a weekend job. he owns a medical company for his real job

Inside-out knowledge of the rulebook, good eyesight, good endurance and speed, references (From reffing college level prolly)

So you don't need any type of formal education, ie. college degree?
