Does anyone know how much it would cost to get an '88 Corsica's A/C modernized?

I duno about down in the states, but all cars 1996 and older cannot get the old type of Freon cuz its bad for the environment or something. But anyway in order to get the A/C recharged, you have to get new parts of the A/C that complies to modern standards... anyone have any idea at the price for this? Canadian dollars would be really good.

Where are you from?

All cars in the U.S. have 134a freon in thier systems from 1991 up.
Conversion kits from R12 to 134a cost anywhere from $20 to $50.
The A/C compressor must be removed and emptied of it's R12 oil,(The 134a oil,PAG,is not compatable with r12's oil).

If you bring the car to a shop, expect the conversion to cost anywhere from $250 to $750.

Canada. $250-750 USD eh? Thats worth more than the GD car... doh...I don't want to have to buy some new Cavalier 4 cylinder automatic POS :(. This car has POWER!!! (6 cylinder w00t!) My old 4cyl. Tempo would top out at 110kmph with the A/C on lol

Ah well... it's getting old anyway
