Does anyone know how many IPC a Pentium M has?

overclocked P-M benches on a desktop scenario

Encoding for example is a task where the P-M can't hold a candle to the A64 and the P4.
Games pretty much neck and neck with the A64
in other tests the P-M varies from great to poor.

so really, you can't say that the P-M is better than A64. In fact, over all the A64 is a better all around chip. The P4 is great in media encoding, but poor in games. The P-M is the other way around. The A64 pwns the P4 in games, and while not as fast as the P4 in encoding it still is much better than the P-M in encoding.

by the way....do you think dothan and porskter is one and the same person??;)
or maybe father and son???

I think they are both Intel empoyees asked to spread FUD.... But I could be wrong.. At any rate I am sick of the FUD....

lol, I'm sick of your FUD too loser !!!

Funny how any one who even critique AMD the least bit here is chastised by the same group of usual suspects. By your reasoning there must be about 50+ members here on AMD's bankroll !!!

And quit trying to say Dothan isn't as good as Athlon 64. We have proven TIME AND TIME again that Dothan (clock cycle for clock cycle) equals or outperforms (most cases) the Athlon 64 at AN EQUIVALENT SPEED. Once Dothan has the benefit of a higher FSB it destroys Athlon 64.

Please see my thread in forum issues on Dothan and porkster. I give up on these threads, and want to try a new approach....

Gautam B, about Timna,

It was supposed to be a Celeron based CPU that's SOC, or System On a Chip, featuring integrated RDRAM memory controller, graphics controller, and I think even an I/O controller, with starting speeds of 800MHz and 128KB L2 cache. I don't think the performance would have been impressive.

IPC of Athlon is 3, theoretically
IPC of Pentium II and up is 3 too(Pentium III, Pentium M)
IPC of Pentium 4 is also 3, but limited by execution units to be maximum of 2

The Intel Israel design team seriously rocks. Who would've thought that their mobile processor would be compared against AMD's top (single core) desktop processor.
